There are a lot of things that can cause a car’s air conditioning unit to break. Thankfully here at Mr. Muffler, we can provide air conditioning repair no matter what the problem is!
An air conditioner uses refrigerant to cool the air before exiting through the vents. There are two main reasons that you may have trouble with the refrigerant; your car’s age or a leak. What many people don’t know is that refrigerant diminishes by 15% every year. As a car age, the refrigerant will cause more and more problems unless the refrigerant is replaced over time and maintained regularly. If your air conditioning system has a leak, commonly found in the unit hose connections, your system will become less efficient.
Refrigerant leaks can be dangerous because they can damage your engine and are bad for the environment. Depending on where the leak is and the severity of the damage, there are different ways to fix it. If the leak is in the hose or connections, a strong sealant may be used. If the damage is severe, you may need a replacement hose or component.
The compressor is a part of the air conditioner that moves the refrigerant through the entire system. This part compresses low-pressure refrigerant gas to high-pressure refrigerant gas, subsequently passing it into the condenser to get cooled. When the compressor breaks, the refrigerant cannot be moved throughout the system. Therefore, the air that exits the vents will be hot. To fix the problem, its best to replace the broken compressor with a new one.
The condenser is the part of an air conditioner that cools the heated refrigerant after it has been compressed. When the condenser is blocked by a foreign object, the refrigerant will not receive enough air to cool. Similarly, when the condenser is broken, the air conditioner will only release hot air because the heated refrigerant cannot be replaced or cooled. To fix the issue, if the condenser is blocked, the debris can be removed. However, if the condenser is broken, replacement is the best option.
